Grand Rapids:
A thriving community of the arts...
First published in the 2009-2010 GRGA Gallery Guide.

Every year in Grand Rapids brings dozens of art-related events such as: Spring for the Arts; the new ArtPrize; Fine Art on the Grand; South Division-Avenue of the Arts; the Fulton Street Artisans Market; and Destination 1111.

All around town you can find artists living and working in all sorts of spaces. The arts thrive from grass roots efforts to professional entities like Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park or the GRAM.

Everywhere you look, you encounter more art. The Grand Rapids galleries have constantly-changing exhibitions and an array of wonderful speakers from around the world. The UICA, Open Concept, Kendall, or LaFontsee Galleries show contemporary exhibitions. The galleries at Calvin College, GRCC, and GVSU offer a wide array of choices as well. Check out local painters and additional works at ByrneBoehm, Grand Gallery, MercuryHead, or Cascade Gallery. Richard App Gallery and Gallery 154 liven things up over in Eastown and Cherry Street. Check out the fold-out map to find the locations of all of these art spaces and their hours of operation.
